Napoleon, a 14-year-old cat diagnosed with Stage 3 CKD, has shown remarkable progress in his blood values after just 5 months of consistent care using Greycoat Research’s program and Full Spectrum Care Set.
Napoleon’s guardian began care in February 2025, and with steady effort and close observation, the impact is now becoming clear.
Let’s take a closer look at his journey.
Weight & Appetite Status
Q. Were there any changes in your cat's weight before and after administering Greycoat Research's supplements?
A. No
Updates on weight: he’s been steady and hasn’t lost any weight but he also hasn’t gained. His appetite has gotten better. His current weight is 9.4 lbs.
* Note from Greycoat Research
: In managing feline kidney disease, maintaining a stable weight is one of the most important goals.
Nausea—a common symptom of CKD—often causes cats to refuse food, which can quickly lead to weight loss.
This weight loss is closely linked to worsening blood test results, creating a dangerous cycle.
That’s why the fact that Napoleon's weight has remained stable is a very positive sign.
Lessons from CKD Care
Q. What are some things you've learned while caring for a cat with CKD?
A. To pay attention to his appetite, his weight and his nausea. Also, giving him 150 ml fluids daily has been life saving.
Other Supplements & Medications
Q. Are you giving your cat any other supplements or prescribed medications
A. Napoleon takes fluoxetine for anxiety, cerenia every other day, Tripsy from NHV supplements and Fortiflora.
A Different Approach to CKD Support
Many cat guardians who reach out to Greycoat Research are often managing their cat’s kidney disease with a wide range of medications and supplements—sometimes more than a dozen.
But Napoleon’s care plan took a different path. With guidance from the Greycoat Research consultation team, his guardian began the full Greycoat program, supported by the three-part supplement set known as the Full Spectrum Care Set.
Napoleon’s journey with Greycoat Research began in February 2025.
From the start, his guardian followed the program closely—combining daily use of Dr. Toru Protocol, Intensive Protocol, and Probiotics Protocol with personalized advice from our team.
After just five months of consistent care, Napoleon’s bloodwork showed noticeable progress—an encouraging outcome for a cat in Stage 3 CKD.
Napoleon's Progress
📅 April 15, 2025
- Creatinine: 3.3 BUN: 43
At this point, Napoleon was clearly in IRIS Stage 3 CKD, with elevated waste levels and reduced kidney function.
But with consistent care, including hydration, proper feeding, and daily supplements, his next bloodwork brought good news:
📅 June 21, 2025
- Creatinine: 2.5 BUN: 35
His creatinine levels showed a clear decline, and BUN also dropped in a steady, consistent pattern.
These changes reflect improved toxin clearance and reduced burden on the kidneys.
Napoleon’s guardian also shared that he was eating with a good appetite, maintaining a healthy weight, and appearing more energetic overall.
During our consultations, we highlighted the importance of gradual and steady weight gain—especially when a cat starts eating better after a period of decline.
In Stage 3 CKD, rapid weight gain can place additional strain on the kidneys, even if it seems like a good sign at first.
Many guardians feel such relief when their cat starts eating again that they increase feeding too quickly.
But in cats with kidney disease, it's essential to focus on gradual stabilization to protect long-term function.
A Bright Path Forward
We’re hopeful that Napoleon will continue to thrive—with stable values, bright energy, and the unwavering care of his devoted guardian.
Greycoat Research is honored to support him every step of the way.
