[Stage 2 CKD] Rei’s Care Story – One Year of Steady Support
Name: Rei
Home: Korea
Date of Birth: 2018 (6 years old)
Condition: Stage 2 CKD
From Rei’s Guardian
Rei was diagnosed with Stage 2 chronic kidney disease in early 2024.
At first, her appetite was low, and her energy had dropped.
Seeing these changes made me anxious—but I decided to focus on what I could do each day to help her feel more comfortable.
Starting the Routine
In June 2024, we began daily care with the Dr. Toru Protocol to support her kidney health.
Over time, Rei’s appetite gradually returned, and her daily activity increased.
However, her stools were still a bit firm, so when the Probiotics Protocol was released in December 2024, we decided to include it in her care routine as well.
Each supplement was introduced carefully, and her condition was monitored with the help of our veterinarian.
Lab Values and Condition
📅 June 2024
BUN: 54.8 Creatinine: Stage 3 borderline
📅 April 2025
BUN: 30.7 Creatinine: within stable Stage 2 range
Rei’s hemoglobin and hematocrit levels also became more stable,
and her overall bloodwork showed a steady trend toward balance.
Her weight increased from 4.95 kg to 5.26 kg, and her appetite became consistent.
Daily Life and Care
Over the months, Rei regained her playfulness.
She began to explore the house again, seeking out interaction and showing her usual curiosity.
Her stools also normalized after the addition of the Probiotics Protocol.
For me, what matters most is seeing her move comfortably, eat well, and show her bright personality again.
That, more than anything, tells me she’s finding her rhythm in daily life.
What I Learned as a Guardian
I’ve realized that steady care—hydration, nutrition, and observation—matters more than quick changes.
It takes patience to support a cat with CKD, but each small improvement in daily comfort feels truly meaningful.
Looking Ahead
Rei continues to do well with her daily routine.
I’ll keep supporting her with the same calm consistency that helped us through this past year.
A Gentle Reminder
