Isaac’s Stage 1 CKD Care Story – Living Steadily Since Kittenhood

Name: Isaac
Date of Birth: 2021 (3 years old)
Condition: Stage 1 CKD (diagnosed at 8 months old)

Isaac was born with small kidneys, but AIM care helped protect his kidney functions.

From Isaac’s Guardian

Isaac was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease when he was still a kitten, due to being born with smaller-than-average kidneys.
Even though he was young, I wanted to support his kidney health from the start.
He has always been curious and playful, and I hoped to help him stay that way for as long as possible.

Starting the Routine

In March 2024, Isaac began a care plan that included the Dr. Toru Protocol, together with a renal diet, omega-3, and probiotics.
Since he tends to eat quickly, I mixed the supplement contents into wet food to help him consume it more comfortably.

We monitored his phosphorus and creatinine levels regularly while keeping his meals balanced and hydration steady.

Health Observations

Health Metric March 2024 September 2024 Observation
Creatinine (CRE) Stage 1 CKD Stage 1 CKD Stable \reading with no progression
Phosphorus Levels High Within managed range Continued dietary monitoring
Energy Levels Moderate High More frequent play and engagement
Mood Normal Improved More playful and responsive
Weight 6.0 kg 5.8 kg Maintained healthy range

Over the course of six months, Isaac's test results remained stable and his guardian noticed a steady, active rhythm returning to his daily life.

He showed more interest in toys, spent more time exploring and interacted more often at home.

Daily Life and Condition

Isaac’s diet now focuses on hydration and balanced nutrition.
His phosphorus values are regularly checked, and adjustments are made as needed under veterinary supervision.
He continues to eat well, maintain his weight, and show lively curiosity throughout the day.

For his guardian, seeing him stay active and balanced despite his early diagnosis has been deeply reassuring.

AIM supplementation helped slow the shrinkage of Isaac's kidneys.

What I Learned as a Guardian

Caring for a cat with an early CKD diagnosis is a long journey.
I’ve learned that small routines—consistent feeding, hydration, and gentle monitoring—make a real difference over time.
More than anything, Isaac reminds me that steady care can create calm and confidence for both of us.

Looking Ahead

Isaac will continue his daily routine with the Dr. Toru Protocol, and we plan to keep tracking his phosphorus and kidney readings closely with his veterinarian.
Our goal is to maintain his current balance and comfort for many years to come.
