Neo’s Stage 2 CKD Care – Six Months of Gentle Balance

Name: Neo
Date of Birth: 2008 (16 years old)
Condition: Stage 3 CKD

From Neo’s Guardian

Neo is a 16-year-old cat living with Stage 3 chronic kidney disease.
He had periods of low energy, reduced activity, and a poor appetite. His fur had lost its shine, and his eyes often looked cloudy.
I wanted to do everything possible to help him feel comfortable again.

Starting the Routine

In April 2024, Neo began a care routine that included the Dr. Toru Protocol, followed by the Intensive Protocol in September 2024, along with omega-3, Azodyl, and his previous digestive supplements such as lactulose, psyllium husk, and probiotics.

We made careful dietary adjustments under veterinary guidance, keeping track of his energy, appetite, and hydration each week.

Health Observations

Health Metric April 2024 October 2024 Observation
Creatinine (CRE) 2.6 2.6 Stable readings throughout the period
BUN Levels 38 28 Recorded lower reading at follow-up
Phosphorus Levels 5.1 5.0 Maintained within monitored range
Energy Levels Low activity High activity Slight gain, within healthy range

Neo's blood test results, showing lowered BUN levels after AIM supplementation.

Neo’s kidney readings remained under regular review.
While his BUN showed a lower reading, his creatinine and phosphorus stayed consistent.
His appetite and daily activity gradually became steadier, and his weight increased slightly over time.

Daily Life and Condition

Neo now moves around more freely and has regained much of his playful curiosity.
He enjoys climbing his cat tower again and spends more time walking through the house.
He eats with a steady appetite, finishing his meals comfortably.

His coat looks smoother, and his eyes appear clearer than before — signs of comfort that have made daily life feel calmer for both of us.

What I Learned as a Guardian

Managing both kidney disease and digestive issues at Neo’s age has taught me the value of patience and steady observation.
Rather than hoping for quick results, I’ve learned that gentle care and consistency can bring quiet, meaningful change.

Looking Ahead

Neo continues his care routine with the Dr. Toru and Intensive Protocols, as well as his digestive supplements.
We plan to keep monitoring his values regularly to maintain stability and comfort in the months ahead.
