Jjun’s Stage 2 CKD Care – 3 Months to Stability at 18

We are Greycoat Research, dedicated to supporting kidney care for cats.

Recently, the guardian of 18-year-old Jjun shared a precious story about overcoming an acute kidney crisis and anemia, one of the most common complications of chronic kidney disease.

We hope that Jjun’s experience will bring comfort and hope to other guardians who are going through similar challenges, and we are honored to share her journey with you today.

These stories are shared directly by guardians who submitted their experiences to Greycoat Research. This story reflects one guardian’s personal experience and is not medical advice, treatment, or a guarantee of results. Every cat is different—please consult your veterinarian for diagnosis and care decisions.

From Jjun’s Guardian

In early 2024, my cat Jjun was diagnosed with Stage 2 chronic kidney disease.
Her bloodwork showed CREA 2.04 and BUN 95 — values high enough to require hospitalization.
She spent five days in the hospital, where the vet even mentioned that a transfusion might be needed due to anemia.
Those days were filled with fear and uncertainty, as I wasn’t sure if she would get better.
After discharge, I focused on maintaining her hydration and nutrition under veterinary guidance.

Around that time, Dr. Toru Protocol had just launched, so I ordered it right away and started giving one capsule daily as part of her routine care.
After three months of giving the Dr. Toru Protocol, her follow-up bloodwork in September 2024 showed more stable kidney values — BUN had decreased from 95 to 31.8 while CREA dropped from 2.04 to 1.78 — and her anemia also improved within the normal range (HCT 48%).
These results gave me hope that her condition had become more stable and that she still had strength to keep going.

Starting the Routine

As her values began to stabilize, I began looking for long-term support options.
Around that time, Dr. Toru Protocol had just launched, so I ordered it right away and started giving one capsule daily.
For three months, Jjun took the supplement alongside her renal diet and routine medication.
Slowly, her appetite improved, and she began moving with more energy.

Lab Values and Condition

📅 February 2024 (Before care)

  • CREA: 2.04
  • BUN: 95
  • Anemia: Transfusion recommended

📅September 2024  (After 3 months on Dr. Toru Protocol)

  • CREA: 1.78
  • BUN: 31.8
  • HCT: 48% (Normal range)

After three months of consistent care including the Dr. Toru Protocol, her follow-up bloodwork showed more stable kidney values and improved anemia levels within the normal range.

What I Felt as a Guardian

When I first heard the word “transfusion,” I was terrified.
But seeing Jjun’s vitality return made me believe that a better condition is possible, even for senior cats.
Now she spends her days peacefully — eating, grooming, and watching the sunlight by the window.
It’s been more than 20 months since her acute episode, and she continues to live comfortably and strong.

A Small Lesson

For guardians caring for elderly CKD cats, patience truly matters.
There may be setbacks and moments of worry, but steady daily care can bring changes.
Even small improvements are precious when they come from love and persistence.
